Analyze and compare revenue drivers and cost structures for FSNCs over the period 2011-2020.

Details: 

1. Analyze and compare revenue drivers and cost structures for FSNCs over the period 2011-2020.

2. Forecast future trend (RPK) based on global and country development indicators and key performant indicators of airlines.

Task scope:

Step 1. Airline key operating indicators.

  • compare and analyze key operating indicators such as number of passengers, number of destinations (international and domestic), the fleet structure, number of code-share and interline agreements, number of aircraft landings, number of active employees and number of pilots for 6 major FSNCs over the period 2011-2020;
  • compare and analyse key revenue drivers such as capacity (ASK and RPK), passenger yield, load factor, cargo and others (ancillary – bag fees, charge fees, catering, FFP, services) for 6 major FSNCs over the period 2011-2020;
  • compare and analyse cost elements such as labor, fuel, aircraft maintenance, CASM (or CASK), aircraft ownership and other unit costs for 6 major FSNCs over the period 2011-2020.

Step 2. Correlation analysis

  • analyze the level of relationship between a dependent or criterion variable (RPK) and several independent or predictor variables (REV , PAX , ASK ,  number of destinations, yield, LF, number of aircraft) for 6 major FSNCs over the period 2011-2020. Please, provide the results of correlation analysis in annexes and summarize all the information in the figures and tables in the main part of the assignment.
  • analyse the level of relationship between a dependent or criterion variable (RPK) and several independent or predictor variables (global development indicators such as GDP (current US$), GDP per capita, Population (total), Exports of goods and services (% of GDP), Imports of goods and services (% of GDP), International tourism (current US$),  Air transport (passengers carried), Air transport, freight (million ton-km), Internet users) for 6 major FSNCs over the period 2011-2020. Please, provide the results of correlation analysis in annexes and summarize all the information in the figures and tables in the main part of the assignment.

Limitations in research

Limitations in research are restrictions and constraints which have been put on your methodology of study and exploration process in general.
All studies have limitations. However, it is important that you restrict your discussion to limitations related to the research problem under investigation.

Possible Methodological Limitations:

1. Sample size -- the number of the units of analysis you use in your study is dictated by the type of research problem you are investigating
2. Access to data. You will not always be able to go through all the resources. You can’t gather all the data you want for your research since it will take a lot of time. Because of it, your work might not cover each aspect.
3. Lack of time. Often deadlines are the reason why your study and research might not be complete.
4. Data collection. There are different ways to collect data: interviews, surveys, questionnaires, etc. The way you collect data might be a real limitation since the answers and the results vary.
5. Measure used to collect the data -- sometimes it is the case that, after completing your interpretation of the findings, you discover that the way in which you gathered data inhibited your ability to conduct a thorough analysis of the results.
6. Age of Data. If your study is based on secondary data, pay extra care to the age of the data. Making current assumptions based on old data represents a strong limitation.
7. Access to Literature. In the majority of cases, studies start when researchers identify gaps in the literature and try to address them. However, the identification or understanding that there is a gap depends on the researchers’ level of access to the existing literature.

When discussing the limitations of your research, be sure to:

1. Describe each limitation in detailed but concise terms;
2. Explain why each limitation exists;
3. Provide the reasons why each limitation could not be overcome using the method(s) chosen to gather the data;
4. Assess the impact of each limitation in relation to the overall findings and conclusions of your study;
