Report task

Select one of the case studies, A – H, from the Case Study folder.

Write a 1,500 word report which evaluates the practical application of inclusive practices in an education setting. The report should demonstrate your understanding of the practical implications of the Equality Act 2010 (DfE, 2014) and of key ideas and debates on inclusion, diversity and equality.

Your report should contain the following:

  1. In the top right hand corner write the letter of the case study you have selected.
  2. As a heading to your report write a relevant title which informs your reader about the focus of the report.
  3. Provide underlined headings for each section of your report:
    1. Introduction
    2. Separate headings for each section of the body (see section 4 below). These must be carefully worded to match the content.
    3. Conclusion
    4. Recommendations
  4. The body of your report containing the majority of information should be in at least two separate sections. These two main sections will each be further divided into paragraphs. Devote approximately  500 words to each of the two main sections:
    1. A section on relevant literature that provides evidence of factors contributing to inequality in achievement which can be experienced by the group in your chosen case study: disability/ race/ social class/ gender. You can use the feedback from Assessment 1 to help you. Refer to the essential and recommended readings and the journal articles in the weekly folders. In addition, you can conduct your own searches for further literature. This first section should also contain evidence of good inclusive practice.
    2. A section on analysis of your chosen case study of real life practice in an education setting. Analyse the ways in which the case study follows guidance in the Equality Act 2010 (DfE, 2014) and other policies related to inclusion, diversity and equality. Evaluate the extent to which the case study represents good practice by referring to key ideas and evidence from other authors.
    3. Your conclusion should state whether the case study is an example of best practice that matches the spirit of inclusion, diversity and equality in an education setting.
  5. Include a word count.
  6. Use APA referencing style:
    1. Include in-text references throughout your paragraphs, in every sentence where you use evidence.
    2. On a separate sheet include a list of references.
    3. Make sure your in-text citations match your list of references, i.e. surnames (or names of organisations) referenced in the body of your work should also appear in your list of references. There should not be names in the reference list that you did not use in the body of your work.
